I became a runner last year at age 37. I never thought I would enjoy it as much as I do. My first half marathon was in Jan and I signed up 3 weeks before the event with our training. I walked most of it but that’s OK. When I crossed the finish line I cried tears of pride. It was such a huge accomplishment for me!.
A few races later, I started to develop EXTREME leg pain! =( It was horrible. I would wake up in the middle of the night with radiating pain in my upper mid thigh. I found myself having to take pain killers. It was horrible. I thought for sure it was my IT band and that my running was over. So sad…I did not have faith in my traditional Dr. Seems like the solution I get when ever I visit my general practitioner is take a pill and it will be OK. That approach was not going to work for me.
Someone mentioned to me that I might visit a chiropractor…so I went. I have never had back pain but I thought I had nothing to lose. At the first appointment I got X-Rays and was SHOCKED to see my back was way out of alignment. Like I said before, my back had never hurt….so this was a HUGE surprise to me. Because my low back was out of alignment my leg was hurting.
